God Loves You; Resist The Devil

Have you ever felt abandoned or rejected by a loved one? That can be heartbreaking. However, when we feel like God has abandoned or neglected us, it’s another ball game. It’s more than heartbreaking. It’s scary. We are filled with fear and hopelessness.

That is exactly the way the enemy wants you to feel. He wants you feeling forsaken and abandoned. Everything the devil throws at you is, ultimately, aimed at casting doubts in your mind on God’s love for you.

He wants you feeling like God doesn’t really care about you. He wants to plunge you into feeling some negative emotions. For that’s how he controls people’s actions.

Resist The Devil

You don’t have to let him control you that way. What should I do? Resist the devil.

James 4:7 says:
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

How do I submit myself to God?
I submit to God by yielding to His Word. When you accept His Word as true, irrespective of what your feelings tell you, you’re bringing yourself under the authority of His Word.

OK, but which Word should I believe?
Believe what Ephesians 1:6 says:
To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.”

You have been accepted by God in Christ. God will never ever reject you. God will never turn His back on you. For you’re the focus of His delight; the object of His affection.

Another truth to affirm at such a time is the fact that God will never ever forget or abandon you. Hear what He says,

“…for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]”
(Hebrews 13:5b, AMP)

Did you hear that? God says He will not fail you nor give you up. He will not, even for a moment, turn His back on you. That’s something worth hanging your faith on!

Next, you turn and RESIST the devil.
How?
Simply refuse to give in to his negative emotions. Instead of the feeling of rejection, warm your heart with the fact of God’s acceptance. Instead of the feeling of abandonment, yield your emotions to the fact that you are not alone. You’re not abandoned. Rather than accept Satan’s lies and deception, believe God’s truth about your situation.

Always remember that God loves you with a perfect love, a love that can never be taken away. And He is committed to helping you overcome every not-too-pleasant moment you may come up against.

It’s my prayer that the fact of God’s boundless love for you will gain roots in your heart, and that you will never give in to Satan’s lies and deception. Amen.
