The God Who Heals Broken Hearts

God does heal broken hearts!

The Bible portrays God as a healer, not just of the body, but also of the innerman – heart and soul. He is a God Who heals and mends broken hearts. He heals our hurting emotions, and pained memories.
Jesus declared that He had come to heal and mend the brokenhearted. This is Great News!

God heals us by comforting our hearts. Isn’t it amazing that of all the names there are, Jesus chose to call the Holy Spirit “the Comforter”? Observe that Jesus didn’t say “a comforter”. He is the Comforter. That means there ain’t any other comforter in the earth. He took the place of Jesus Christ. He is the One Who comforts us in our brokenness.

The word “comfort” is a compound word from the words “com-” and “fortis.” Com is a word forming element usually meaning “with, together, together with, in combination.” Fortis is a Latin, which means “strong, brave.” Our word fortitude also came from the same root. Putting the two together, the word comfort gives a picture of a union or relationship, which brings strength, solace, help, bravery. So the Comforter is One Who comes alongside or walks together with us, to help, aid, assist, solace and strengthen us, especially in our down moments.

The beautiful thing about this picture is the relationship aspect. True and lasting comfort comes only from the vital relationship we have with the Holy Spirit. He doesn’t offer us help from a distance. No! He’s already come to live within us. He has made Himself one with us. In this way, He feels what we feel. In our pain and affliction, He is also pained and afflicted. He understands perfectly our hard-to-describe struggles. He knows our thoughts before we think them, and our words before we utter them. He is never disconnected from our realities.

Not only does the Comforter share in our own pains and sufferings, He helps us to also share in His strength, comfort, joy, peace and healing. He binds up the brokenhearted; strengthens the weak with much strength in their inner man. To the despairing, He imparts hope for a brighter future. He helps us conquer our shame and disappointment. He gives the ability to rise above our hurt, to forgive and to let go of the painful past.

The dear Holy Spirit comforts hearts that are grieving and mourning the loss of loved ones. How He does it amazes me. Gradually but surely He brings in His peace and restores joy. I have been privileged to experience this myself. When I lost my wife, I couldn’t imagine I would be whole again. I was devastated beyond words. I felt torn apart. My pain was indescribable. It’s been a little over a year now, and looking back, I am so grateful for His healing and inner strength, even though He still has alot of mending to do on my heart.

In the midst of the hurt, the fear, the loneliness, the so many unanswered questions and emotions I couldn’t identify, one thing stood tall for me – the ever-abiding Presence of the Helper deep within me. I was not left alone. He was right there with me in it all. That was so reassuring and took care of my fears. And knowing that He was hurting as much as I was, gave me strength beyond measure. I felt loved and valued. And there were times I could even feel His soothing embrace. His voice is both life and healing to me.

I also found out that, not only does the Comforter relieve our pains and gives us the strength to pull through them, He also changes us in the process. He makes us into comforters. He makes our hearts tender and sensitive to the pains of others. We become more compassionate towards those hurting, especially those who are going through the same thing we have come through.

Apostle Paul aptly captures this amazing transformation when he said this about the Comforter:

“He always comes alongside us to comfort us in every suffering so that we can come alongside those who are in any painful trial. We can bring them this same comfort that God has poured out upon us.” (2 Corinthians 1:4, TPT)

Receive the healing comfort of the Divine Comforter today. In Jesus Name

THE NAMES OF GOD.

The God Who is present.

You may be wondering, why study the Names of God?
Jesus let us in on the relevance of knowing the Names of God.
In John 17:26, He said, in a conversation with the Father:
“And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, THAT THE LOVE WITH WHICH YOU LOVED ME MAY BE IN THEM, AND I IN THEM.”

So we are learning about the names of God, that our hearts may be established in His love, the very love with which He loved Jesus Christ, the Son of His love!

What does a name tell us? What’s in a name that gives it such power?
Do names have any more significance besides identification?

Names are revealing. Names, especially in the Eastern cultures carried far more significance than they do in the Western world.

In the ancient civilization, names were thought to reveal the essential nature and character of a person – the way he/she reasons and does things.

With this background insight, it becomes easier to understand the Names of God and how they give us a revelation of Who He is and what He does. Studying the Names of God would reveal His love nature. And you could never know of His love without falling head-over-heels in love with Him. ?

We shall start with the name JEHOVAH SHAMMAH, which means the-Lord-is-present.

“The distance all around will be 18,000 cubits. “And the name of the city from that time on will be: the Lord is there.”
~ Ezekiel 48:35

This Name speaks of the relational nature of God. We see Him in the Garden of Eden, having intimacies with man and His wife. He cherished His communion with them. Then sin comes in and destroys that beautiful relationship.
But that’s not all. Next, we see God sacrificing His very own Son, to reconcile man back to Himself and restore that precious relationship He once had with humanity.

God is a Father Who loves to have a vital relationship with His children. He wants to be present in your life. He longs to be involved with every detail of your life. He doesn’t want to be distant. No!
He is not an absentee Father. No!
He yearns to live, not just with you, but in you, in your heart… To dance with you, sing over you, cry with you, and rejoice with you… To comfort, guide, strengthen and watch over you.

He’s engraved you on the palm of His hands. Your face is ever before Him. He would never leave nor forsake you.

“…for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]”
~Hebrews 13:5, AMP

This truth should be a shield, to protect your heart from the feeling of loneliness and helplessness.
For you’re NEVER ALONE!

He is the God Who is present!

The Healing Power Of Right Words https://princenajime.com/the-healing-power-of-right-words/ https://princenajime.com/the-healing-power-of-right-words/#comments Mon, 13 Aug 2018 10:12:03 +0000 https://princenajime.com/?p=281 Continue reading "The Healing Power Of Right Words"

]]>
We invest yet another day looking at the power of words. Only today we’ll be considering the healing power of right words.

Words exact a powerful influence on our minds, for good or for evil. Rash words hurt. Graceful words heal. However, the extent to which any word or statement affects you is dependent on whether or not you choose to internalize it. You internalize a statement when we you keep playing it in your mind, repeating it to yourself over and again. Each time you repeat a statement, it gets deeper into the memory and wields stronger influence on your emotions, thoughts and imagination. So the magic is in repetition.

Wounds caused by negative statements can only be healed by positive statements. And I have come to discover that, for every abusive or non affirming statement, there are over a hundred comforting or affirming statements in the Word of God, to counter and destroy their effects. That’s Good News right there! God’s grace and goodness always, as a law, super abound any evil there is. There is surpassing ability in the Word of God to heal and liberate you from the deep hurts and the chains that wrong words have bound you with. God’s Word is full of life. It’s powerful and sharp. It has the ability to cut through your innermost being, to bring comfort, encouragement, healing to your memory and emotions. Rather than tear you up, it builds you up until you’re whole again.

However, the extent to which the Word of God works in you is entirely dependent on you. You may choose to internalize it or not. Again, you internalize it through focusing your thoughts on it and speaking it to yourself repeatedly (meditation).

Apostle Paul in Ephesians 6 tells us that we are in a spiritual warfare. And in 2Corinthians10, he tells us that the warfare is taking place within us – in our minds. Our minds are the battlefield. We are doing battle against spiritual forces that seek to enslave and control our minds through negative ideas and beliefs and reasonings. The Good News is that we are not defenseless or powerless over their assault. We have spiritual weapons. And our weapons are powered and guided and made effective by God Himself. All we have to do is, USE THEM.

We pull down mental strongholds, cast down destructive imaginations and take our thoughts captive, forcing them to align with what God says about us. We can do this with our own mouth. Yes, your mouth. God has given you a mouth to master your mind. And mental strongholds are best pulled down via words – God’s Words on your lips.

Let’s get practical.
First, identify a statement or a reasoning that has been working against you, holding you down and stopping you from giving full expression to your potential.
Then locate at least four Bible verses that counter that statement or belief or reasoning.
Next, commit them to heart. Memorize them. The easiest way to do this is to copy them out. You may also wish to paste them where your eyes can easily see them, like your mirror or wall.
Now you’re loaded. Start the bombardment. Meditate on the verses. Pray them. Use them in your self-talk. That is, speak them to yourself. Keep at it as long as it takes, until those limiting strongholds the enemy has planted in your mind come crumbling down. And a new and empowering stronghold of truth is built up in you.

Let me show you what I have been saying.
Let’s say the negative stronghold is , “I can’t amount to anything; I am such a failure”

Bible verses that counter that lie include:

1. “I CAN DO ALL THINGS through Christ, Who makes me strong.” (Philippians 4:13)

2. “God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we can ask or think according to the POWER THAT WORKS IN ME.” (Ephesians 3:20)

3. “…He who has began a good work in me is faithful to complete it. (Philippians 1:6)

4. ” My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in your weakness. ” (2Corinthians 12:9).

Next, start focusing your thoughts on these truths. Speak them back to yourself over and again. And never forget to pray them, claiming your victory.

Armed with these missiles of truth, Satan doesn’t stand a chance!

You Can Choose To Be Healed https://princenajime.com/you-can-choose-to-be-healed/ https://princenajime.com/you-can-choose-to-be-healed/#comments Wed, 08 Aug 2018 23:48:57 +0000 https://princenajime.com/?p=264 Continue reading "You Can Choose To Be Healed"

You can choose to be healed in your emotions and mind today.

We continue our talk on emotional healing and wholeness. And I shall be building on the foundation I laid the previous day.

Jesus called the Holy Spirit Comforter. The Spirit of God is our Comforter. And He lives right in our heart. When you are brokenhearted, know that the Holy Spirit lives right in the centre of that brokenness. He lives with and feels your hurt and pain. He isn’t ashamed of your brokenness. Neither is He depressed by it. No!

Hear what the Spirit of God said, “I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God and they shall be my people.”
(2Corinthians 6:16).
He is patrolling and monitoring the boundaries of your heart, searching for any breach or tear, to fix it. Bringing you relief and soothing your pain is the Spirit’s covenant commitment. The Holy Spirit is aware of your pains, and He wants, above all, to make you whole again.

However, He needs your active participation. He needs your cooperation. The Holy Spirit wants you to exercise your power of choice. For anything can happen to you, but you retain the power to choose what to do after it all. You must choose not to hold tightly to the pains of the past. You must choose to move on.

Another choice you will need to make is to change the way you see yourself. You are not powerless. You are not defenseless. And you are not trapped. There’s something you can do. And that is, overcome the victim mentality. God gives strength to the weary. And He binds up the brokenhearted.

Forgiveness or repentance is another choice you should consider making. Forgiveness precedes true healing. This isn’t going to be easy, I must say. However, if you are willing, the Holy Spirit will supply the strength for it. One of the practical steps you may need to consider is to start praying for the person who has wronged you. I have found this to be very effective. For you can’t be praying for someone and at the same time harboring grudges against them.
Apostle James tells us that when we pray for our offenders, our hearts get healed:
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed…”
(James 5:16, NIV)
You must choose to ask for forgiveness or offer forgiveness as the case may be. Your healing so much depends on this.

It’s my prayer that you will be willing to take responsibility for your healing, and to take practical steps towards it.

If this blesses you, we would love to hear from you. Thanks.

God Loves You; Be Healed In Your Mind https://princenajime.com/god-loves-you-be-healed-in-your-mind/ https://princenajime.com/god-loves-you-be-healed-in-your-mind/#comments Tue, 07 Aug 2018 14:14:00 +0000 https://princenajime.com/?p=254 Continue reading "God Loves You; Be Healed In Your Mind"

God loves you and has provided for your emotional healing and wholeness. He cherishes and cares about you affectionately. He cares about what you think about and how you think about it. He is concerned about your feelings. And He wants your thoughts and emotions whole.

He wants your memory healed from past hurts, and your imagination straightened.
God loves you and has made provision for the healing of your mind and emotions.

When Jesus walked the earth, He declared that the healing of broken hearts was one of the things He was anointed for:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,” (Luke 4:18)

Emotional healing and wholeness is the Father’s will for you. And He made a provision for it in Christ’s vicarious death on the cross. Christ died from a ruptured heart. His heart was broken that yours might be made whole. He paid for your emotional wholeness in full. Now there’s healing for your soul.

Are you nursing the wounds of abuse (sexual, emotional, physical or verbal)?
Are you weighed down by rejection or disappointment?
Has your self-worth suffered because of the failure you experienced?
Whatever it is that eats away at your mental health, Christ has already defeated it for you.

There’s healing for you. God has made His Holy Spirit to indwell the inmost parts of our being. He sees your struggles and feels your pain. He knows and understands your confusion, fear, regrets and shame.
And from His indwelling position, He longs to bring you comfort and healing for all your hurt. And to restore your joy and peace.

Psalm 147:3 tells us that,
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [curing their pains and their sorrows].” (AMP)

The Holy Spirit does heal the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds, but you must be willing to be healed and made whole. He can’t force His ministry on you. No, He never operates that way. He needs your cooperation and participation.

So turn your pains and struggles over to Him. Let Him have all your hurt, fears and inner conflicts. For He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. Let Him be your strengthener and your comforter. Receive the strength and the wisdom you need to forgive and let go that past.
Let Him heal your memory. And take out all the bitterness, the revenge, the regrets, and the shame. Let Him be your present Help in this time of need.

It’s my prayer that you will be made whole in your mind and emotions, as you yield to God’s Holy Spirit, indwelling your inner man.

God Loves You; Receive Your Healing By Faith https://princenajime.com/god-loves-you-receive-your-healing-by-faith/ Mon, 06 Aug 2018 13:09:35 +0000 https://princenajime.com/?p=250 Continue reading "God Loves You; Receive Your Healing By Faith"

We are still looking at the fact that God loves you and has made provision for your healing in the death of His Son Jesus Christ.

Today, we will start from where we’d left off yesterday. If God loves me, then why am I not healed in my body?
To answer that, let’s remind ourselves what we said yesterday: in the sight of God, you are already healed.

Your healing has been paid for by Christ. It’s all yours to enjoy. However, what we have given to us by grace, we must receive by our personal faith. Faith in Christ’s sacrificial death. Faith in our healing in Him.

The Spirit of God through apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 2:8 that,
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.”

What God has given to us by His grace, we take a hold of it by our faith. By our faith, we reach out and grasp our healing, which has been paid for in full by Christ’s grace.

Faith is a personal responsibility. You can grow your own faith by taking time to labor in the Word of God. Spend time meditating on healing Scriptures, and God’s love for you. I have discovered that, faith for anything else, becomes a lot easier, when our focus is on God’s boundless and and unconditional love. When we know just how greatly God loves us, it becomes easier trusting Him for our healing and every other thing.

God loves you and dearly prizes you. And has provided for your healing. So reach out in faith and receive it, that Christ may be glorified in your body.

I remembered a long time ago, when I took ill with fever. I was shaking all over and my body was really hot. This continued for three days. So on Sunday, after everyone had left for church, I decided to watch Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ. For no obvious reason, I decided to play the second disc instead of the first. And the first thing I saw was the scene where Christ’s flesh was been torn by the Roman whip. Something powerful jerked inside of me. I got up from where I was sitting, and with such fury, I told myself that if Christ went through all that for me, then I had no reason being held down by fever. My faith rose up. And that was it, the fever left me.

It’s my prayer that you will have your focus on Christ’s unfathomable love for you and the healing He has made available for you through His death.
